Extended Producers Responsibility
Nova Scotia is making a change to how recycling works! Instead of municipalities handling the costs and operations, the companies that create and sell packaging and paper will take the lead.
Circular Materials, a not-for-profit producer responsibility organization (PRO), will be guiding this transition. They’ll oversee how packaging and paper are collected, recycled, and reused in new products.
Starting December 1, 2025, these updates will help to create a more efficient and sustainable recycling system for everyone. Visit our New Recycling Program page for more information!
